STEAM Based Learning FAQ
-
What is STEAM?
STEAM is the acronym for science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Our program integrates each of these topics into the early childhood classroom in a fun and interactive way.
-
How is STEAM integrated in the classroom?
One example is teaching a simple math concept of counting to five. We would encourage the children to discover this concept in more than one part of their day. One example would be a written visual with the numerals as well as the words. Another would be exploring our play zone and physically counting out blocks or balls.
Our educators might also integrate a science element by counting something in nature when the class travels outside. Learning is strengthened for our children when they see it come to life in more than one instance. It becomes a continuum of learning throughout the day.

Why STEAM?
Research shows that success in learning is increased when the learner is at the center of the experience. It is extremely beneficial for children to be presented with multiple opportunities to explore the topics they are studying. This approach turns learning into a hands-on experience that not only grabs the attention of the children, but also strengthens their ability to retain the information.
